About INSiAVA

Established in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Pretoria, INSiAVA originated with the objective of translating promising research into practical applications, particularly in silicon light emission technology. Over the years, the company has undergone strategic shifts and, in 2019, refocused on Passive Infrared (PIR) and thermopile technology. INSiAVA’s team, with expertise as a fabless semiconductor company, collaborated with Artur Suntken, a pioneer in smart sensors, to develop a family of digital PIR microchips for IoT smart sensing devices.

INSiAVA’s microchips, born from this strategic shift, stand out for its compact size, high-fidelity operation, and energy efficiency, positioning the company as a leading player in the evolving semiconductor market. With a commitment to innovation and a foundation in world-class engineering, INSiAVA is at the forefront of technological advancements, offering smart sensor products that cater to the growing trends in the IoT landscape.

Value Proposition

INSiAVA presents a groundbreaking value proposition with its digital PIR microchips. Setting new industry standards, its microchips are smaller, faster, and more intelligent, outclassing competitors and reshaping the landscape of smart sensing devices. Offering unparalleled energy efficiency, it extends the lifespan of devices while minimizing environmental impact through ultra-low power consumption. Operating at the lowest voltage in the market, INSiAVA’s microchips ensure not only efficiency but also broad compatibility across diverse applications.

Advanced processing algorithms guarantee high accuracy, low noise, and a significant reduction in false triggers, meeting the precision demands of the market. Supported by a robust international patent portfolio, INSiAVA stands at the forefront of innovation, delivering technology that not only meets market expectations but exceeds them, paving the way for the future of IoT.

Team

Dr Jannes Venter

The company is led by Dr Jannes Venter who joined the company as first employee (in 2006) and became full-time CEO in 2014. He steered the company towards developing IC products based on its IP that ultimately enabled the company to develop and produce smart sensor products. An inventor and co-inventor of 3 patents, Dr Venter is an established IC designer with a PhD in Microelectronics and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree.

Marius Goosen

Mr Goosen is responsible for overseeing the company’s engineering activities, customer engagement and for establishing the production capabilities required for manufacturing and producing INSiAVA’s products abroad. Mr Goosen has a Master’s Degree in microelectronics, is a PhD candidate at the University of Pretoria and, as a co-inventor of 3 patented inventions, has more than a decade of microelectronic design experience.

Gerrie Mostert

Mr Mostert has been involved with INSiAVA from the outset in his capacity as IP and commercialisation advisor to the University of Pretoria. Under Mr Mostert’s leadership, INSiAVA has grown its intellectual property portfolio spanning more than 21 inventions with more than 60 local and international patent grants. He holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership.

Artur Suntken

Mr Suntken has more than 40 years of integrated circuit design experience and plays a leading role in designing INSiAVA’s smart sensor products. Credited as the inventor of the digital PIR smart sensor, Mr Suntken has founded and established several companies, including a profitable fabless semiconductor company. He is well known by industry in the field of analogue and mixed signal designs.
