In 2008, Nolan co-founded iKubu, a company that specialized in computer vision and radar technology. iKubu was acquired by Garmin Ltd in 2015. His main contribution was the conception and development of the Garmin Varia Bike Radar. This product received widespread acclaim, including being selected for Time Magazine’s Top 10 Gadgets for 2015. In 2017, Nolan took over the site leader role at Garmin’s Stellenbosch office, where he grew the engineering team and expanded the Varia product family, helping to enable sales growth of an order of magnitude.
