Formed in 2018 to commercialise the work of Dr Johan Brand on clean efficient gas reforming using alternative catalytic methods, translated into a process called Guilt Free Hydrogen TM; a novel process that addresses all the key challenges associated with methane pyrolysis to produce turquoise hydrogen.
Burnstar is a technology company in the process of building its first commercial demonstration project to supply clean hydrogen to a local steel producer looking to up-sell their current dirty steel to clean steel using clean hydrogen. Developed over 4 years, the GFH technology is globally patented and offers exceptionally high efficiencies and production rates of clean hydrogen with the pure, solid carbon by-product.

The demand for clean hydrogen continues to grow primarily driven by industrial processing, mobility, and stationary backup applications. Despite global recognition of the importance and potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier, there are currently no viable technology options to produce hydrogen that is both environmentally friendly and cost effective. An innovative alternative that falls between Blue and Green hydrogen is known as Turquoise hydrogen. While Turquoise hydrogen also use methane as feedstock, it is different from Blue and Grey in that the reaction never produces CO2..
