In the spirit of the World Cup, business will be as usual for SAVANT and intensive planning will be done for the second half of the year which is promising to be packed with exciting opportunities and events.

Plans are well underway to organise the Electrotechnical Roadshow with international journalists to be hosted during October. Five journalists will be invited from different regions globally to experience our high-tech sector and what our beautiful country has to offer.  
 
SAVANT hosted a road trip with the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) to Durban and Cape town where the SmartXchange and the Cape IT Initiative gave us a warm welcome. The aim of the road trip is to endorse the roll-out of CMMI and TSP/PSP in the country. SAVANT with the JCSE is aiming to set up two more pilot sites outside of Gauteng and is exploring the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal possibly. For those of you that haven’t become involved with CMMI yet, must please visit www.jcse.org.za CMMI is a process improvement model that is used to rate the maturity of organisations’ processes. It was developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh in the USA to assists companies from a host of sectors improve their ability to develop high quality software and systems. SAVANT is also planning some workshops on IP awareness and will be presenting on dti assistance for patent registrations and the like. Workshops will be hosted in Gauteng and the Western Cape.
