The 2010 FIFIA World Cup is finally here and SAVANT is hoping to share the spirit with you! In the spirit of the World Cup, business will be as usual for SAVANT and intensive planning will be done for the second half of the year which is promising to be packed with exciting opportunities and events.

Plans are well underway to organise the Electrotechnical Roadshow with international journalists to be hosted during October. A final reminder as well if your company would like to participate in the Gitex Technology Week in Dubai during October. SAVANT is also planning a road trip with the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) again to endorse the roll-out of CMMI and TSP/PSP in the country. SAVANT with the JCSE is aiming to set up two more pilot sites outside of Gauteng and is exploring the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal possibly. The first event was hosted at the SmartXchange in Durban with a warm reception by Robynne Erwin, CEO of the SmartXchange. For those of you that haven’t become involved with CMMI yet, must please visit www.jcse.org.za CMMI is a process improvement model that is used to rate the maturity of organisations’ processes. It was developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh in the USA to assists companies from a host of sectors improve their ability to develop high quality software and systems. SAVANT is also planning some workshops on IP awareness and will be presenting on dti assistance for patent registrations and the like. Workshops will be hosted in Gauteng and the Western Cape.
