There are some interesting opportunities in this month’s SAVANT newsletter. SAVANT recently attended the SAFIPA (South African – Finnland Knowledge Partnership on ICT) conference. The main objective of the SAFIPA programme is to support the creation of an environment which facilitates the development and deployment of ICT service applications for the benefit of South African citizens. The programme addresses the creation and delivery models of ICT-based service applications which are suitable for local conditions especially for the most vulnerable parts of the population.
The South African Government, through the Department of Science and Technology, has partnered with the Government of Finland, through the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in establishing knowledge society programmes. The focus of the South Africa-Finland Knowledge Partnership Programme (SAFIPA) is to support ICT entrepreneurs, organisations and initiatives with a variety of interventions, including grant support and technical assistance.
There are also partnering opportunities available with Finnish companies and the process is explained in the SAFIPA article.
Also look out for the International Trade Initiative in Zimbabwe during September 2009.
